John and Elsa Johnson Home

This is the interior of the John Johnson home.  There is a story about how caring John was for his wife Elsa.  She had a bad right arm and couldn't even lift it.  John took this into consideration and made her an indoor water pump (to the right of Sister Dickson and on the left side of the dry sink.  John made this so that Elsa could pump it with her left arm.  Later, while investigating the church, she asked if there was healing as recorded in the bible.  Joseph asked if she had faith to be healed.  Yes, came her reply.  Joseph then gave her a blessing and she was healed by the power of the Priesthood.  She immediately raised both hands high above her head.

Elsa Johnson fireplace.  Notice the bread oven on the right side.  With this baking oven, Elsa could cook several loafs at once.  (the oven it is dug out in the back toward the left).

This is the room where “the vision” took place.  Joseph and Sydney were shown a glorious vision that is documented on this website.  See also "The Vision" revelations in context and D&C section 76

The vision could well be viewed as a comprehensive tour of the eternities. Joseph Smith said this vision included three things: “what was, and now is, and yet is to be.”

This is the room where Jospeh and Emma were sleeping with the Murdock twins who were suffering with the measles.  Their door was forced open and a mob of some ten men took Joseph Smith from the house.  They also took Sydney Rigdeon from his home, banging his head on the stairs as they dragged him out of his home.  Both men were then tarred and feathered.  After getting cleaned up that night, Joseph preached a sermon the next day.

Across the street, an apple orchard was open for picking red and golden delicious apples.  They were fantastic!
